Diane Vitillo is an Occupational Therapist who was challenged by one of her patients, a young stroke survivor, to make him a product that he could use to independently put on (donn) his ankle foot orthosis (AFO) and shoe.

Challenge Accepted!!!

"The Original AFO Assist" was launched in 2012.   We were thrilled that our innovative product was helping so many children and adults around the world independently put on their ankle brace and shoe. 

We re-designed our original version in 2017 to better accommodate our customers who wanted to be able to travel with this more compact product design.  To this day, we continue to receive many heartwarming testimonials from our clients, physical and occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals worldwide.

The AFO Cradle will securely hold your AFO in place while you insert your foot.  Using a Leg Lifter may help some clients get the job done more easily!

The AFO Cradle and the Shoe Platform will accommodate both adult and  pediatric size AFOs and shoes.

Some clients find it easier to donn the AFO before getting out of bed in the morning.  With our redesigned product...you can choose which method works best for you!

While wearing your AFO, you can't tip your toes down to slip into your shoe.  So we designed the "Shoe Platform" to facilitate shoe donning.  Placing the "Foot Funnel" on the heel of the shoe keeps the heel from collapsing and reduces the friction of the AFO as you slide into the shoe.  Then just use the string to pull the "Foot Funnel" out and you're on your way to re-engage in life!
